Diacetyl

Diacetyl, a naturally occurring compound in butter, is a chemical additive used to flavor synthetic butter products, candies, snacks, and extend the shelf life of unsalted butter. Diacetyl commonly shows up on ingredient lists as "artificial flavors."​​​​​​​​
