Titanium Dioxide is a white color additive commonly found in many processed foods. It has been banned in the European Union for concern based on evidence that titanium dioxide nanoparticles present in food-grade titanium dioxide can accumulate in the body and cause DNA damage—genotoxicity. Genotoxicity can potentially lead to cancer cell mutations.
You can find titanium dioxide in baked goods, broths, cake decorations, candies, canned soups, chewing gum, chlorates, coffee creamers, pastries, salad dressings, and white sauces.
🚨 A sneaky trick of food manufactures is to list titanium dioxide under “artificial color” or “color added”.
I would suggest avoiding this ingredient whenever possible.
